Completely loose sand on steel sheet - the forms come from the design of the steel template, the shape of the sand grains, and gravity. Seemingly strong architectural forms are created by the process of pouring the sand onto the form and then sweeping away the excess. 

The ephemeral qualities in the work follow from my considerations on entering and passing. The duration of the installation process of the loose sand pieces and their inevitable end, provides me a reoccurring space for meditating on consciousness and inevitability, all of which impact my view of what I think to be true or meaningful. The loose sand pieces are one type of model I use to approximate unseen systems in my life, or in this case systems in general as the substructure of the steel sheet (something underlying what is actually seen) is an element in all systems.
