These are photos of photos of photos and so on. They start from an image of my drawings or other works. Each iteration is altered through seen notes, collaging, taping, and sketching. The ways I catalog knowledge, make meaning from this knowledge, and can manipulate this process, knowingly and unknowingly, plays out in these iterations. Maps and symmetrical patterns enter these works because of their ability to, historically, convey importance or possible transcendence.

Memory and the process of meaning-making, both within my conscious and subconscious mind, have become increasingly important in the work since I've had two children. How their memories develop and how these turn into notions of selfhood or identity, how this will map onto the world they'll grow up in, and what is happening behind the scenes in their subconscious is all rich fuel for my work right now.
